So I was reading on Writer's Market that many people suggested contacting the agents of books similar to yours. Which makes sense, since you know they already like your genre. Therefore I have been giving that a try. I've sent one out to Meg Cabot's agent, Helen Fielding's, Lemony Snicket's, and a lot more. I'm on like query 19.
I wonder if that actually works. Agents of authors who have made it big are probably super rich now and don't care about books anymore. They just sip their margaritas on the beaches of Capri. With Ina Garten. And Tom Hanks.
I'm also wondering if agents even read queries. Because everything I look up, communities, memberships, conferences--they all cost money. All of them. So I'm thinking people don't give you a chance unless you've put down $100+.
